Cherai Beach has beautiful topography where clear blue lagoons are separated from the azure waters of the Arabian Sea by a margin of just few hundred meters of landmass. The beach provides a great combination of Arabian Sea waters and Kerala backwaters which are rimmed by the vast expanses of paddy fields and meandering coconut palm trees. Cherai Beach is located on Vypin Island, 25 km off Kochi in Ernakulam district of Kerala. Tourism Fest is held at Cherai Beach in December which is a major draw for tourists. The fest is marked with cultural activities, musical nights and bonfire rings. A variety of sea food and vegetarian delicacies could be enjoyed during the fest. The beach also has good facilities for water sports like boating, surfing and parasailing.
There is a 400 m long walkway which has high mask lamps on the sides that make strolling on the walkway a pleasant experience for the visitors. Kochi International Airport is 30 km from the beach while Aluva Railway Station is 20 km. The beach is connected with bus service with North Paravur (6 km), Kodungallur (10 km), Ernakulam, Kochi and other nearby destinations. It is just at 40 min drive from Goshree Bridge bus stand in Ernakulam.
